Minutes, 15 December 2011
Call to Order was at 18:05, followed by the Pledge of Allegiance and a moment of silence for POWs and MIAs
Prayer. Chaplain Jim Kelley offered the invocation.
George Nix. President Bob Sperry called for a moment of silence for George Nix, who passed on 9 December. George was not a chapter member but was active at the Vet Center and was well-known to many.
Roll Call. All officers present with the exceptions of Bob Marshall and Greg Montalvo, both of whom were out of town.
Minutes. Bob Sperry called for approval of the minutes.
Motion: Rick Shuster moved to approve the minutes, seconded by Jeff Gundersen (unanimous).
Treasurer’s Report. President Bob Sperry presented the treasurer’s report.
Motion: Ron Reinhardt moved to accept the report, seconded by Rick Shuster (unanimous).
President’s Report. President Bob Sperry announced this would be a short meeting followed by the chapter’s holiday dinner. He stated at the January meeting we would form the nominating committee for chapter elections, scheduled for April.
Special Guest. Glenna Smith, representative from Sen. Dean Heller’s office, was introduced to the chapter. Ms. Smith was invited by Jeff Gundersen.
Outreach Committee. Jim Hanson presented the outreach report. He stated outreach is great fun when all contribute.
Horticulture Committee. No report.
Chapter 388. No report.
Fernley Monument. No report.
Wreaths Across America. Rick Shuster reported this was the best year yet.
Chapter Website. Gary Fink reported the site is up and running and is found at vvareno989.org.
Sparks Parade. Jim Hanson reported a good turnout by chapter members and a successful parade.
Birthdays. Happy birthday to Richard Babcock, Rusty Bolton, Tod Brill, Richard Caudill, L.E. Kittrell, Mike McDonald, and Greg Montalvo.
Adjourn. President Bob Sperry adjourned the meeting at 18:19.
