Patriot Guard Riders

VVA 989 enjoys the firm and continuous support of the Northern Nevada Branch of the Patriot Guard Riders (PGR).  This organization has as it’s motto: “Standing For Those Who Stood For Us!”

We have called upon the PGR to pick-up and deliver ceremonial wreaths for our National Vietnam Veterans Day celebrations and remembrances over the past several years and often see them at the Northern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Fernley, NV.  Some of our VVA 989 members are also Patriot Guard Riders and the organization has have been a big part of VVA 989’s public activities over the years.

We can’t recommend this group of patriotic men and women highly enough and we laud them for their continued reverence, respect and dedication to our veterans and first responders.  BZ

The Reno Aces

Greater Nevada Field – 250 Evans Ave, Reno (775) 334-4700

VVA 989 is pleased to have found friends and patriots with the Reno Aces Ball Club.  We first met when we approached the Aces about providing space for a POW/MIA Chair of Honor in Greater Nevada Field during the 2019 baseball season.  The Aces were very receptive to the proposal and arranged for a formal dedication of the Chair by VVA 989 during Military Appreciation Night on August 3rd 2019.  Since then, we have worked with the Aces to ensure that our POW/MIA are not forgotten.

After the total loss of the 2020 baseball season due to the COVID pandemic, we look forward working with the Aces again on Military Appreciation Night, Saturday, August 28th 2021 and once again honoring our POW/MIAs and ensuring they are not forgotten

Reno Aces kick off “Military Monday” at the Greater Nevada Field. Every Monday home game all Military and Veteran personal, will receive buy one get one half off deals for tickets.

Reno Aces says “Military Monday” is their way of saying thank you for everything our military does.

Devil Pups

Reno/Sparks  Head LR: Karl Rodriguez emailkarl89441@gmail.com

We first met The Devil Pups Youth Program for America in November of 2018 when they helped seating and serving our older guests at our Giving Thanks Dinner.  They also assisted us as ushers and food runners for VVA 989 at the Reno Event Center and our Vietnam War Remembrance Program and Luncheon which followed.  Over the past years the Devil Pups have helped usher, seat and cater to our older guests at our public functions and the Chapter’s annual Giving Thanks Dinner.  Our Chapter President once said, “These young men and women are the type of youth that you would be proud to have as a Grandson or Granddaughter. “ …They are helpful, courteous, kind, patriotic and respectful which some may find rare in today’s world.

Chapter 989 supports these young people in their participation in what is a demanding physical and academic good citizenship program for teenagers.  It is also important to mention that the program is more mental than physical, reflecting the ‘whole person’ concept. The program foundations are intellectual, spiritual, social, and physical.  Many of the “Pups” also go on into military service and are presently serving our country today.  We certainly intend to call on these dedicated young people for our future Chapter events and know that they, “deliver” when called

Allegra Marketing Print Mail

(775) 501-6264

Since 2019, VVA Chapter 989 has found Allegra Printing to be extremely helpful with our various printing needs.  Since finding Allegra Printing, their staff there have helped us printing updated Chapter 989 brochures and specialty event programs.  Orders are always clean, clear and well produced and often finished earlier than the promised date.  We find the finished product with Allegra Printing to be something we are enormously proud to hand out or have as a program for one of our events.  We highly recommend this local business and know you will be happy with their work too.

The Write Type

We first met “The Write Type” owner, Candice Kiel, in early 2019 and she has since created and fulfilled all our VVA 989 graphics and design needs.  Often working and editing on short notice and asked to sometimes “do the impossible,” this graphic design and layout company does it anyway.  Veteran friendly and a Blue Star family mom, The Write Type has never failed to deliver on logo creation, newspaper ads, brochures, fliers and even business cards.  If rated on a Five Star scale, VVA 989 would rate The Write Type a SIX!  We highly recommend your patronage.

The Katie Grace Foundation

We were introduced to the Katie Grace Foundation earlier in 2021 during the COVID Pandemic.  We then assisted foundation founder, Kimberly Weingartner, with distribution of hundreds of bottles of “hand sanitizer” to the Northern Nevada State Veterans Home in Sparks and to the Veterans Guest House in Reno.  This first meeting has grown into distribution of gardening soils, seeds and seedlings, and gardening supplies for the State Veterans Home and adult hygiene products for a local church’s outreach project.

While not an actual “Veteran Service Organization,” The Katie Grace Foundation is a 501-(C) 3 non-profit who’s mission is to provide education on traffic safety for students, delivers care packages for Northern Nevada/California communities, offers educational and athletic scholarships and is currently building Katie’s Gardens to provide children an opportunity to grow fruits and vegetables to feed their families.  The organization is also in line to assist VVA 989 with our outreach efforts on behalf of the Family Support Center for Nevada Army and Air Guard families.  We look forward to a long and mutually beneficial relationship with the Katie Grace Foundation.
